  • Water Story

The Shoshone hydropower plant in beautiful Glenwood Canyon holds two of the largest and most senior non-consumptive water rights on the Colorado River. For more than a century, those rights have commanded critical flows on the Colorado River, supporting communities, agriculture, recreation, water quality, and endangered fish habitat both upstream and downstream. Permanently protecting the Shoshone water rights means protecting Colorado's namesake river and securing one of the state's most important tools for water security in a hotter, drier future.
