Benji Backer recognized among the world’s influential leaders advancing conservation and climate action
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Nature Is Nonpartisan Founder and CEO Benji Backer is featured in the 2025 TIME100 Climate, a list of the most influential leaders driving conservation action. Backer tops the list of “defenders,” a group of individuals ranging from government officials to business managers who drive action in communities around the world.
“I am beyond honored to be included in TIME100 Climate, but this recognition isn’t about me,” said Nature Is Nonpartisan Founder and CEO Benji Backer. “This is a reflection of the increasingly powerful movement we’re building — one consisting of hundreds of thousands of Americans working across political boundaries to conserve our environment. We are reigniting America’s conservation legacy, and this is just the beginning,”
Benji Backer adds this to his long list of accomplishments, including being named a NYTimes Changemaker and being awarded the Fortune 40 Under 40, Forbes 30 Under 30, GreenBiz 30 Under 30, and Grist 50.
Nature Is Nonpartisan Board Member Isabelle Boemeke is also featured. Boemeke uses her online persona, Isodope, to educate young people about the potential of nuclear energy to solve the climate challenge. Other honorees include actor Samuel L. Jackson, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Pope Leo XIV.
