Eliminate Megafires & restore forests
Fire is natural, but megafires don’t have to be. We can reduce megafire destruction and keep communities safe by restoring forest health, investing in prevention, and helping communities prepare.
Mile Markers

Forest TLC
Restore 20 million acres of forest per year, every year, through prescribed burns, reforestation, invasive species control, and other science-backed forest health measures.
Put America’s forests back on a regular maintenance schedule, and restore forests before small problems become massive ones.

Not today, fire
Halve the number of acres burned by catastrophic megafires.
Cut the acres destroyed by catastrophic megafires by investing in prevention, forest health, prescribed fire, and community resilience.

Retire megafires
Make megafires a thing of the past by 2040.
Megafires are catastrophic wildfires. Let’s put an end to ‘em with healthier forests, smarter fire management, and communities better prepared for wildfire.

Stop burning through $
Reduce wildfire destruction costs by 75% through active forest management, prescribed burns, and community fire resilience.
Prevention costs a fraction of recovery. Reduce megafire fuel by investing in forest management, prescribed burns, and community resilience — saving lives, homes, and taxpayer dollars.

Boots are meant for working
Rebuild the American forestry industry to manage our forests sustainably.
Build a modern forestry workforce that can restore forests, reduce wildfire risk, and sustainably manage one of America’s greatest natural resources.

Proof of Progress

Helping fire-scarred terrain recover
After the summer 2025 Derby Fire at Horse Creek in Colorado, recovery required bringing thousands of acres back to life. The Foundation for America’s Public Lands teamed up with Trout Unlimited on post-fire restoration so the area can better withstand future drought and wildfire. They’re accelerating the landscape’s recovery with stream restoration, fish passage improvements, tree protection, and irrigation infrastructure upgrades.
