The Roadmap

Clean Water for All

We need water to survive, duh. So why are so many communities still fighting for it? Let’s restore damaged waterways and make sure everyone can access clean, reliable water.

Mile Markers

Clean water in every tap

Ensure all 150,000 drinking water systems across the United States deliver clean water.

No family should have to question whether the water coming from their faucet is safe to drink. Everyone deserves clean, reliable drinking water — whether they live in a big city or small rural town.

Back in the swim of things

Restore every major American river, lake, and shoreline to fishable and swimmable standards.

Our rivers, lakes, and beaches should be places to make memories, not worry about what’s in the water. Let’s bring them back to life so families can swim, anglers can fish, and communities can enjoy the waters in their backyards.

Cut out the drought

End water shortages in the American West.

A secure water future means healthier communities, farms, and economies for the region and the country.

No town left dry

End water insecurity for every rural American community.

Where you live shouldn’t determine whether you have reliable water. Every rural community deserves the clean, dependable water people need.

Forever chemical, never again

Every American drinks water free of microplastics and harmful chemicals.

Nobody should have to wonder what’s hiding in their drinking water. Let’s reduce microplastics and harmful chemical contamination so families can drink, cook, and go about their lives with greater confidence in the water they use every day.

Single-use? Swipe left.

50% decrease in the use of single-use plastics.

Convenience shouldn’t come at the cost of a whole lot of trash. By cutting single-use plastics, we can keep more litter off our streets and shorelines, reduce waste, and protect the places we love spending time.

Give plastic a second life

Double the amount of plastic we recycle.

More recycling means less waste and more materials we keep in use.

 A clean sweep

Remove 50 million tons of plastic from American rivers, lakes, and coastlines.

Our coastlines should be places to relax and enjoy — not dumping grounds for plastic waste. Let’s clean up the mess, protect wildlife, and make our shared outdoor spaces better for everyone.

Tech that doesn’t suck

AI data centers don’t pollute and don’t show up in areas that are already water-strained.

We can build the future without breaking what sustains us. Let’s set the highest environmental standards for AI data centers so technological progress and healthy communities can grow together. Check out a full list of sustainable growth principles to see our vision for how AI could be more nature-positive.

Proof of Progress

A cleaner river in the nation’s capital

Alongside Washington, DC’s Anacostia River, cleanups through a public-private partnership are tackling an estimated 60,000 pounds of trash, debris, and abandoned boats. Anacostia Riverkeeper and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments are helping improve the river’s natural beauty for residents and visitors to enjoy and making the river healthier and cleaner. This is part of the plan to make the Anacostia fishable, swimmable, and accessible for neighbors to find a beautiful natural escape.
